Well everyone, that time has come. After one amazing year, we are now in the midst of making a major push to ready ourselves for our presence at Comic-Con 2008. And as you might expect, along with all the excitement, we also have a lot to prepare. So we need a little time away from the site, but you don’t think we’d leave you empty handed, do you?
Never! In fact, we are having our first contest give-away to celebrate our ONE YEAR anniversary. That’s right, CreatureBox has been through birth, growth, and now seems to be sitting up all on its own. But none of this could be possible without all the great feedback, comments and introductions we’ve been lucky enough to have from all of you! So we present you with a single question.
“What existing character in all the world would you all like to see most reinvisioned by CreatureBox?”
So leave a comment. We want to know, and whoever we think has hit it square on the nail, well, that’s where we pay it forward, or back, you know what we mean.
When we come back one month from today, we will be announcing the winner of the contest who will be receiving not one, but two prints from the ‘Box. From Dave’s collection, a dynamic interpretation of “Mr. Incredible”, and from Greg’s collection, the wacky apes of “Silverback Death Squad”.
So Happy Birthday CreatureBox! And here’s to our next year of craziness.

I’d like to see a version of “The Beast” from Beauty and the Beast. Chosen for a few reasons:
1) The only interpretation (or maybe the most well known interpretation) that I know of it is from Disney’s movie. I’d love to see him done with a more graphic/comic quality
2) You guys excell at drawing animals and monsters… why not a beast???
3) As per this post http://creaturebox.com/?p=322, you can draw the beast screaming
Thanks!
~Marcus
A chance to meet at comiccon? That’s fantastic! I’ll stop by and visit for sure.Your robot designs are killer so, Robocop or The Iron Giant, would be awesome for CreatureBox.
You guys do creative reinterpretations of superheroes and I would love to see your own version of The Tick. On a side note, your work is inspiring and I always look forward to what is posted.
Later

This is biased, but I think my Sonic Jack Characters would be cool to see reinvisioned lol. If not those (as I know many people don’t know my strip yet)… perhaps… Black Cat, Tomb Raider, Brandy and/or Jen from Liberty Meadows (goes for Frank too). What about….hmmmmm Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Power Girl… list could go on and on lol

Dave/Greg:
I wish I could attend SDCC this year. This’ll be my first year in five years that I have not been able to attend. I tried locating you guys last year but didn’t find you two, but I guess some time in the future it’ll happen.
As far as a redesign it would seem that you two could probably produce a solid re-design of any character and have it successful.
My initial thought was to see a redesign of Boba Fett. I think it would fit in with what you guys do, but also would be a challenge, as the original design was a solid one IMHO.
The only other one that I might be partially curious as to how you would go about it is a redesign of Bowser from Mario Bros. I’ve always thought that he needed a bit more intimidating of a look.
Good luck at SDCC and hopefully I’ll run into you guys sometime in the future.

Hi! and congratulations for your site!
I´d like to see a revision of Disney´s character “Hades” from the film “Hercules”. I think this is the most interesting villain in their films (with Ursula´s permission).
But only one condition: you have to keep his blue and dynamic hair!
Regards!
Brilliant idea!!
Personally I’d like to see how you guys would reinvent Frankenstien’s Monster. It’s been done so many ways that I think it would be a challenge to make it original and of your unique design.
If not that, then I’d love to see Dr. Zeus and Cornellious. Planet of the Apes Rocks!!!
See you guys at Con.
Alfred
Hands down – Creature from the Black Lagoon!
Spawn………that would be nice. Or samurai jack
HAPPY BIRTHDAY BOX!
Hmmm…. excellent question… how about….
Magnus, Robot Fighter
)
(maybe ditch the skirt?
I would like to see your versions of Voltron. The Lion version of course, not the other lame one. That would be sweeet.
Nice to see you guys did it so far. I wish many more years of amazing designs will come.
Proposal:
I’d love to see a redesigned He-Man’s companion, Battle-Cat. Fighting in a moonlit fierce combat against Panthor in the land of Eternia.
congratulations on your page guys, your art’s been a real inspiration to me.
I’m going to go with my gut,i know you like TF2 soo… i would love to see you guys do one of Gordon Freeman from half life, perhaps some baddies included. It would be pretty cool to see you guys do that in a cartoony way.
also, another idea, not my first though, would be one of the characters from the Redwall book series, Maybe Matthias or Martin. i think you fellas are great with robots and such, but i also love your more organic subjects, and the mice of Redwall have always been some of my favorite characters.
there’s my $0.02, good luck with year two guys.
I think it would be awesome to see one of the Gummi Bears. Zummi’s always been a favorite… maybe Tummi… maybe all of the Gummi Bears! But yes! A Gummi Bear would be awesome!
Happy Birthday!
—-The Green Hornet!
Well, I gotta say you guys already did Optimus Prime, so that’s covered. But how about a Sleestak from Land of the Lost – you guys could knock that out of the park!
Thanks for all your work!
Hey guys! Great stuff. Congrats on the work you guys put forth. Keep it up!!!
EARTHWORM JIM or Battle Toads
Jak Jak from The Incredibles
or
Papa Smurf after he was transformed into a zombie and had run amuck throughout the entire Smurf-land. He’d obviously be screaming in Smurf rage, so it should be right up Dave’s alley.
or
Anything from the Animorphs book series (weeeeellll, maybe not
Congrats on the first year!!! Continuing success at ComiCon and moving forward!
-Matt
Great site and awesome characters! Keep it up and happy birthday. Here are my suggestions:
People: the crew of the Serenity
Robots: the old school Cylons
Creature: Rankor
Cool news fellas. Happy Birthday… I was gonna say the Smurfs but I see someone already mentioned that so maybe I’ll mention Gargamel and his cat Azrael…
1 – a wacky Crash Bandicot
2- Alex Kid
3- Krazy Cat and Ignaz Mouse
I would love to say Porco Rosso, nice character and wonderful design…but I think BUZZ LIGHTYEAR rocks…
so happy birthday and hope you guys never stop drawing…
Love the site…awesome, amazing art….love this question too. I think you guys could do an amazing version of a fairly obscure (to non-Japanese people) character – KAMEN RIDER AMAZON! He’s a live action super-hero that first premiered on TV in Japan in 1974. He was also in Manga. Here’s a link to a pic of him:
http://incolor.inebraska.com/stuart/riders/amazon.htm
A long-shot, but hey, I figured I’d try!
How about Bucky O’hare’s Bruiser and Deadeye Duck from that old cartoon, that also had a awesome toy line as well!
(I figure since you love them apes)
I’d love to see your interpretation of Specter from the Ape Escape series. He’s a nice little character who I think has a lot of potential for a redesign.
And congratulations again on your first year of Creaturebox
Happy birthday and congratulations on a great first year! I’d say you’re more than just sitting up though, you guys are standing tall! You’re a great inspiration. Mmk, I’d definitely love to see your version of the Ghostbusters…all the guys or just one of them kickin’ some ghost ass would be super cool! Have fun guys.
Gizmo and the Gremlins!!!
Love the site, love what you guys do.
How about something Shirow inspired? Maybe your take on the Major from Ghost in the Shell, or Deunan and Briareos from Appleseed.
Or how about something Cyber Punk? Jetbike gang wars, humans vs. mutants/aliens.
Or how about something Steam Punk? Not so much Wild Wild West, but more Victorian-esq. âThe world will be saved by STEAM!â Umm⦠well⦠you get the point.
No mater what you choose to do, I look forward to it!
These are not BIG characters but go to deviantart.com and type in Mini Manx and click on the first one. That guy looks look cool. Also, type in Wax, and find some picture of a guy that has a baby bottle head. These to characters would be really cool.
I would like see some Silverhawks love. We(or I) need some updated versions of Mon*Star and Bluegrass. Seriously, Silverhawks was filled with some pretty awesome villians (Buzzsaw) that could use a new take on their original designs.
Happy Birthday! Metal Gear Ray From the Metal Gear Solid sons of liberty.
or A Sentinel from the X-men
HAPPYBIRTH DAY!!!! I WOULD LOVE TO SEE PREDATOR OR STITCH BECAUSE CREATURES ARE UP YOUR ALLEY! PEACE!
Love you guys!!! you know….in that artist sorta way.
Toe Jam and Earl!!!!
……..or the Grinch. Or hell…any Dr Suess character.
Okay, I know I already posted but I thought of this yesterday and who better than you guys. Retro Future Astro Chickens!!!
Also… much love to the Silverhawks… wings of silver, nerves of steal…Silverhawks…partly metal, partly real…Silverhawks!!!
Alfred
Congrats on the 1 year milestone. I pop in and take a peek at least once a week to see what new and amazing stuff you’ve both been doing. And I’m always impressed.
As for which character you two need to redesign, that’s easy. Two words:
Ambush Bug
E
the blob from the x-men…………..
Happy birthday and also I no a perfect character xman and ratchet and clank in a three body character.
How about a little tim burton-ish with Jack and maybe sally from a nightmare before christmas. Or really step it up and re-envision a classic like the man with x-ray eyes.
Hi Dave, we just watched the King Skullie DVD and it was AWESOME!!! That was the coolest thing ever. We were wondering if you were planning on showing King Skullie on Creaturebox? It has been a lot of fun working with you on this project, and we hope that we can work with you next school year on something else as well.
As for the contest entry, we voted in class and 16 out of 23 people thought that Link from the Legend of Zelda series and Super Smash Bros. was the character who most needed a special Creaturebox makeover.
Thanks again Dave, and we’ll be keeping in touch! Have a great time at Comic-Con!
The Ralphadelphia Kids
Hey Dave,
I am in Mr. Ralphs class. The King Skullie Drawing was awesome!!!!! I had an idea that Alice, from alice and wonder land needed a cool redraw. again king skullie was cool!!!!!
thanks,
cayla!!!!!
The Lorax. Better yet, post apocalyptic, dystopic future Lorax. Still lovin’ those trees. Good day creatures!!
I woulda gone with Creature from the Black Lagoon, but thats been taken.
maybe…Clayface or Manbat from Batman, perhaps Mojo Jojo.
Happy birthday gents! I’m sorry I happen to find myself on the wrong side of the pond for CC but, hey, the informationsuperhighway keeps me up to date with your stuff! Have a ball and keep ‘er lit!
For a redraw – well my vote goes to that classic Korean hero Marine Boy! My boyhood hero who put the boom on boomerang!
Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome!!! What else is there. Two men enter one man leaves!! Barter Town, Master Blaster, Tina Turner, the awesome wilderness kids, and that Australian pilot and his son. All the awesome costumes made of burnt tires and football pads with spikes!! It screams with juicy potential. I’ve been meaning to do it myself, but I would love to see your take on it. Looking forward to another great year!
happy birthday guys! can’t wait to see what you two have in store for us this year. your art work rocks harder than a geology test.
by the way, in terms of what character you guys should do i vote for grimlock from transformers. not sure if he was mentioned yet or not. i’m sure whatever character wins though, will be bangin.
thanks for a great year guys and good luck at the con!!!!
Today’s the day!
Some great suggestions from everyone – can’t wait to see which one you guys pick (whichever it is, it will no doubt be another stunner)!
Can’t wait to meet you both at Comic-Con this summer!!!!
Thom’s right…thanks everyone for participating! There are tons of fantastic ideas in here. Greg and I are going to look everything over and make a decision soon. More to come!
