Several years ago I had the awesome opportunity to check out the Norman Rockwell museum in Stockbridge Massachusetts (twice!). The experience was simply amazing and the gallery displays the largest collection of Rockwell in the world. All the classics are there and the presentations really set the tone for his work. During the summer months you can even check out his studio. Rockwell would often compose profile paintings and the visit to the museum was another reminder of how telling a character’s profile can be. So if you’re ever wandering around the north east, give it a look.
And watch out for Vermont.

haha i get the first comment. sweet profiles dude. love the space theme
Mr. Rockwell is an American Icon! Thanks for sharing your experience with the museum.
Another strong piece as usual! Funny how the different species of space pilots totally invoke different first impressions of their character. Excellent!
I LOVE it! Great details my friend!
The best part about looking at both your guys’ work is, ideas start pouring out for characters right away! Not everyone’s work has that affect on me. Thanks for the post- JM
Nice once again please please please continues!
That´s just great!
Your work really inspires me! Hope you guys keep doing it forever!
Cheers!
Come on Dave, we all know Norman was far from “Normal” Rockwell… where’s your sense of detail! tsk, tsk, tsk…. just kiddn’ witchya.
Rockwell is one of those great artists that captured a period of time in his work through style, subject matter, color, and an awesome sense of humor. He brought a real human element into his scenes and characters that was so incredibly basic and simple that it really connected with his audience. That had to be a blast to see all his work in person!
Thanks guys! Josh, you’re right, very far from “Normal”. That may have been the worst typo ever. Thanks for the catch.
Very Nice!! Good collection of a motley crew of characters.
