We joined the billions of others this weekend to take in the new Star Trek. The series looks to be heading in a really cool direction and J.J. gets a big thumbs up from me. I wouldn’t consider myself a Trekkie but my wife and I get a kick out of catching the original series here and there. Can’t ever go wrong with Shatner slugging a dude in a lizard constume.
Speaking of lizards, here’s one crusin’ at nearly warp speed on a space aged Vespa.

My wife and I spent the weekend down in Savannah hanging out with good friends and soaking in old college memories. What I didn’t really remember from my days in school were the trillion biting insects that really like to hang out just about everywhere. We were eaten alive throughout our journey but it was still a great time. My guess is under a microscope most of the insects would look like this dude.
Next time, bug repellent or some of those cool mosquito suits.

Many moons ago Greg and I had the pleasure of working with DC on some spot illustrations for Supernatural Magazine (based on the TV series). In some cases, the monsters were based on characters from the show while others were from somewhere in the darkened crevices of our heads. I thought in celebration of Easter I’d post some because nothing speaks to an Easter egg hunt like werewolves.
Truthfully, I had some ideas for a rabbit post but alas, the weekends have been really busy lately. No worries, I’ll have it up next year, I promise. Maybe.

Several years ago I had the awesome opportunity to check out the Norman Rockwell museum in Stockbridge Massachusetts (twice!). The experience was simply amazing and the gallery displays the largest collection of Rockwell in the world. All the classics are there and the presentations really set the tone for his work. During the summer months you can even check out his studio. Rockwell would often compose profile paintings and the visit to the museum was another reminder of how telling a character’s profile can be. So if you’re ever wandering around the north east, give it a look.
And watch out for Vermont.

It’s been raining in NC for over three days now. For the past few hours I’ve been waiting for The Ark to sail through the backyard. While it wouldn’t be filled with a collection of exotic animals, I would expect to see some deer, squirrels, and at least a few soccer moms.
The good news is I’ve had a great excuse to stay in the studio and struggle through some painting. I decided to go with a romantic post because I figure everything loves something at one time or another. Even if it’s a creature and a spiky club.
Team ROBO

Sometime in the near future, once everyone is done with Twitter, Facebook, and American Idol, I could see the human race spending more time building robots. Little garage shops will sprout up across the land creating all sorts of mechanical companions. They’ll cut lawns, wash dishes, play catch with the kids, and eventually start fighting each other. When the time comes, I plan on starting “Team ROBO” – a rag tag group of no nonsense metallic defenders solely designed to keep the streets safe.
Until then, I have to go hit TIVO and see if Adam got axed on Thursday.
