A Robot’s Journey

A Robot's Journey
I’ve always heard life is about the journey, not the destination. It can be tough to follow that advice sometimes but I’ve really tried to slow down a bit and listen to the tree frogs barking out in the woods. I knew I wanted to play on the environment side of the fence with this post so I decided to start a set reflecting one bot’s journey….somewhere. I don’t have a clue where he’s headed but I figure we can tag along and check out some bizarre places along the way.

Why can’t you guys make these posts bigger?…. You have all these great details that you
can sort of see from the thumb nails and when you click on the image it’s so small you can’t see anything?

      Hi Doug,

Image size can be a tricky situation but for us it’s driven by two factors. The first has to do with bandwidth. We’ve decided on sizes that can accommodate our visitors without destroying the server (and our pocket books). Since we run everything on our own dime, we need to stay budget conscious. The other factor revolves around our yearly sketchbooks. We always want to have something special for the CreatureBoxers out there who purchase our books. These publications show off our work in its truest form in addition to displaying exclusive content. We’re in the process of getting our new sketchbook together for the convention season and we’ll have plenty of announcements on the site when they’re available.

      Thanks for stopping by!

        Thanks Dave,
I’m gonna have to grab a sketchbook to enjoy all the great stuff!

Ahh, can’t wait for the new sketchbook!

Alternatively, if you decide on an image that is not being included in the sketchbook and still want it to go up online, might be a cringeworthy suggestion but there are many free image hosting sites out there.

Though its completely understandable not wanting to use them.

Thanks guys, we’ll be excited to get the new sketchbook out there – if we only had some pixie dust to slow down time. Yeah, there are lots of hosting options but we keep everything under our hosting package to maintain a reliable site along with avoiding copyright strangeness.

It amazes me how you guys are able to make such simple, organic illustrations come to life with color. You need to create a video demonstrating your capabilities, similar to the creatures you create. Gorgeous.

I really hope the robot continues his journey. I could imagine much more images where the robot flies through unknow places. It´s so awesome too watch him flying in this magical world and too bad that there are only two panels. It would be fantastic to see him flying again (or still) some day.
The colors are so impressing. Your work is just such a inspiration for me.
    Wish all the best,
    Zapf

Haha, that little guy reminds me of a swingshot grapple from Ratchet. I love how you’ve made the robot so tiny compared to his surroundings, kind of like us in our day to day explorations.

    NICE!!!
    More please :)

Hearing the frogs out and about recently was a good sign of some better weather to come. A much needed change from the insane/uncommon winter we’ve had this season.
This looks like a really fun piece, and I agree with Zapf in hopes that you continue this little guy’s journey to new places! Always a nice treat to see your enviro work on here :)

  7. Ahhh very cool images guys.
