I recently had the pleasure of contributing an illustration to the wonderful book Beautiful Scars by my close friends Durwin Talon & Guin Thompson. Together they have woven an elegant tale of historical fiction and fantasy under the engaging premise: “Every scar tells a story…they are the signs of a life well lived.”
The book tells the story of Ridley Shaw as he explains to his granddaughter the origins of his scars, each one gained through either a sad or uplifting adventure. Those stories become the basis of a journey into both his past and the soaring heights of imagination, as his granddaughter learns that scars are just one more way to hold on to a memory.
Beautiful Scars hits shelves on March 11th from Archaia so be sure to give it a look. For more info and artwork, be sure to head over to Perpetual Flights, Guin & Durwin’s home on the interweb!
And many thanks for making our CreatureBox relaunch so special. We were blown away by the outpouring of support and we couldn’t be more excited to get back behind the art table. And if you missed our earlier announcement and yearn to cram a few more monsters into your life, be sure to check out our newest sketchbook collection: SHRED!
See you guys Monday with the second episode of Making Friends!
